Maz Weineck
Maz began working in architecture in 2013, initially as a modelmaker. Through this role, their passion for the built environment steadily expanded, leading to a broader engagement with architectural practice. As a modelmaker, they worked closely with architects to translate ideas into physical form, using craft to communicate, test, and develop design concepts. Over time, this process led them to realise that they wanted to explore architecture in a more personal and expressive way.
When moving through buildings and cities, Maz considers not only their design but also the designers, builders, and craftspeople behind them, alongside the histories and communities that shape and inhabit these places. They are fascinated by celebrating both the ordinary and the extraordinary, creating work connected to the geometry of architectural elements such as the stock brick. Through their practice, they explore how far familiar forms can be distorted through material and composition while still retaining a sense of recognition.
Today, Maz balances their work as an artist, modelmaker, and Social Value Lead at Stanton Williams. Across all aspects of their practice, they seek to empower people to engage more deeply with their surroundings. Whether working to create a more diverse profession or encouraging stronger connections with architecture, Maz believes that everyone’s voice is important when it comes to shaping the places in which they live, work, and belong.
